Though renewable energy often draws heavy investment and media coverage in the cleantech world, water does too. The theme of the second yearly competition launched by the Californian organization Imagine H2O was “Water Energy Nexus”. In other words, the aim was to promote start-ups the innovations of which are combining water and energy sectors. Let us review the winners.

Today, cities account for nearly 60% of the domestic use of water. Management of blue gold is becoming a fundamental issue in all regions of the globe. In late 2009, IBM opened a new center for excellence for water management in Montpellier, which aims to study the consequences of climate change on regional water resources.
Open data is certainly the next innovation field for self-service citizen applications and it will create transparency and responsibility.
